This elegant, antique, French fireplace mantel was beautifully hand carved in Bourguignon stone. The slightly shaped mantel surmounts a frieze with a very lovely, stylized shell at the center, flanked by rococo carving on the canted jambs; the jambs with a restrained cabriole form and incised, elongated reserves. This piece is the epitome of Louis XV style.
