Miniature Oil Painting Portrait Signed Identified Grace Almy Ellis Young Woman
Miniature Oil Painting Portrait Signed Identified Grace Almy Ellis Young Woman in Victorian Dress
Original vintage oil painting on paper portrait of a young woman. It is signed and dated on the lower right but I am not sure of the name or the date. Possibly Vantine 46? It is very well executed and there is a lot of detail in her features and dress. She has her hair pulled up into a bun and is wearing a blue dress with a beautiful fancy white collar with a black ribbon around her neck. She is wearing a gold colored brooch. She looks happy. She is identified in pencil on the back as Grace Almy Ellis second daughter of Olson Ellis, mother of Earle Ellis Jacobs, Helen G. Jacobs, Ruth E. Jacobs. It is framed in a c.1940's brass easel frame.
I found on the internet that Grace Almy Ellis was born in 1872 in South Abington, MA and died in 1928 in Attleboro, MA. She married Solomon Benjamin Jacobs in 1896. This appears to be dated '46 and signed "Vantine?". She looks to be in her early 20's in a Victorian dress. Possibly this was done after a photograph. I could not find ay info on the artist.
