Frederick Ballard Williams N.A. Landscape Oil Painting
Small vintage oil on board painting of a mountainous fall landscape signed "F. Ballard Williams" lower left. There are several trees on the left with rather large mountains visible in the background. It is framed in a painted wooden frame that looks original to the painting. I don't know where the scene is and am guessing the painting dates from around 1920. The photos are a little light, it is a little darker in person. Free shipping with insurance and signature required delivery confirmation within the USA, others please email.
Frederick Ballard Williams was an American artist born in 1871 and died in 1956. He was a member of the American National Academy and a president of the Salmagundi Club.
The frame measures 10 3/4" x 12 3/4". The opening in the back of the frames measures about 8 1/4" x 10 1/4". The sight or opening in the front of the frame measures about 7 1/2" x 9 1/4".
Condition: There is a tiny chip of paint missing about 1/8" long in the hillside area in front of the mountains on the lower right side. There is a closeup photo with a pencil tip pointing towards the missing spot. There is some light soiling and some very light crackling in the paint surface. The frame has quite a bit of wear to the paint around the front outer high area. It has it's original backing paper with some tears that was reinforced with masking tape. It looks like there might have been a label of sorts of the back that is now missing.
