Hand Carved & Painted Shore Bird - Whimbrel
I believe that this vintage carving is a Whimbrel; it was with a collection of shore bird by noted Whitman, MA carver Harry monk (1916-2010). It is 12” in length, 5 1/2” tall without stand and 3” wide. The bird is stamped on the underside “H. MONK”. It is hand carved and hand painted with glass eyes. It has great detail and coloring of the features. There are a couple if white paint spots which I have not tried to remove. There is no stand with this bird.
