Here we have a beautiful ancient Chinese floriate motif late Tang to Song Dynasty Ewer.

The decoration painted in brown slip with a thin greenish glaze over the whole. Here and there the top layer of glaze has pooled and appears a darker green this can be seen on the mouth of the ewer, below the handle and on the rim of the base. There are bubbles present across the body from firing here and there, on the mouth and handle of the ewer the dark color of the stoneware is present. There is an elegance to the form of the ewer in abstraction it appears in shape like phoenix headed examples of the era in the shape of the top of the ewer.

It is without repair presenting beautifully the piece with a striking presence the proportions lovely indeed.

This ancient artifact stands approximately 10 7/16" tall by approximately 5 5/16" wide (265mm x 135mm).

The colors are earthy and subdued there is an elegance and deceptive simplicity to the design.
