For sale is a wonderful and rare antique 19th century Pennsylvania folk art fraktur watercolor that depicts a cherub flanked by what looks like a poppy on the left and forget-me-nots on the right. The cherub also holds a blue swag, and the name "Johannes Filcher" is under the image. The piece is housed in a period veneer frame, and measures about 6 3/8" x 5 1/4" with sight measurements of 4 1/2" x 3 5/8". It is in nice antique condition, with very minor toning and spots, and the frame shows age related and expected wear. It should be noted that the watercolor was removed from the frame for examination, and found that foam core and spacers had been added by a previous owner. We then replaced the backing. Please look carefully at the pictures as they are an important part of the description, and be sure to ask any questions. What a superb addition to your fraktur or folk art collection!
