Circa 1890
"Aubusson is located to the southwest of Paris and has been weaving floor carpets and wall hangings, almost all in the tapestry, pileless technique, since the middle of the 18th century. This flatwoven rug or wall hanging in the airy late 18rh century style shows a central trophy of a trumpet and cornet straight horn, within concentric elliptical floral wreaths, one accented with swags and petunias and wheat sheaves. Roses or other floral bouquets in the corners. Light palette with red, pink, and pale browns and greens, on a light straw and old beige ground." Good condition.
