Fine quality Impressionist oil on canvas by listed French artist, Charles Deshayes (1831-1895). This large still life painting depicts a vignette of champagne, crystal glasses and lucious pomegranate fruit. Deshayes has executed the work with brilliant detail and a superb use of color. The viewer is invited to partake of the delightful repast. One of the fruits has been broken open revealing its glistening seeds next to some broken sweet biscuits. Pour the champagne! Born 9 November 1831, in Toulon; died 1895. Deshayes studied under F. L. Français and Sénéquier and made his painting début at the Paris Salon in 1864.
