Rare Signed & Dated 1978 Original Vintage Wood Carving/Sculpture by Fair Haven, New Jersey Artist Carl R Becker (1929-2013) Titled “Black Capped Chickadee” Displaying Carved & Painted Wooden Bird w/ Wire Legs on Tree Branch w/ Handmade Copper Leaves! - image 1 of 16

HERE’S A RARE SIGNED AND DATED 1978 ORIGINAL VINTAGE BIRD WOOD CARVING / SCULPTURE BY FAIR HAVEN, NEW JERSEY ARTIST CARL R. BECKER (1929-2013) TITLED “BLACK CAPPED CHICKADEE” THAT DISPLAYS A HAND-CARVED AND HAND-PAINTED WOODEN BIRD WITH WIRE LEGS PERCHED ON A NATURALLY-OCCURRING TREE BRANCH ALONG WITH HANDMADE GREEN-PAINTED COPPER LEAVES!

Please Note: The artist Carl Becker created this carved and hand-painted wood bird to be a wall-mounted sculpture. To this end, the backside of the tree branch has been cut with a flat surface and then inset with a small area as a hanging device.

Dimensions: The carved wood bird itself measures approximately four and one half inches (4 1/2”) in length by one and one half inches (1 ½”) in width. The tree branch measures approximately nine and one half inches (9 1/2”) in length or height and extends outward about eight inches (8”) from the wall.

Signature: Hand-signed in pencil on the backside of the tree branch “Black Capped Chickadee Carl R. Becker, Fair Haven, NJ 1978” along with some type of symbol.

Condition: Generally excellent and clean condition with what may or may not be minor wear to the tree branch portion of the sculpture. The tree branch has naturally occurring decay so it is difficult to know what might be wear. Overall, still beautiful – still top-notch!
