This lovely oval trinket box has a hinged lid. The lid is ornately decorated with a romantic scene of a young man playing a flute to a lovely girl with a basket of fruits. It is artist signed "A. Max" and is a combination of handpainting and transfer print. The scrolled edges and bottom front and back trims are in raised gold. The metal rim is gold tone as well. It measures approximately 6 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 3" high. No breaks, cracks, repairs, etc. There is a hallmark on the bottom (blue underglaze) that is similar to a Sevres mark but this is not Sevres. The lid snaps shut snugly. Because the lid is slightly off center, there is a very slight gap even when snapped closed. Priced accordingly.
