Made for a little girl during the early part of the twentieth century, this pink and white creation was entirely hand-crafted. Stitching is expert; blocks are entirely hand-pieced together; quilting is by hand at 6-7 stitches per inch. It is 100% cotton and may be washed in the washing machine and dried in the dryer. The pattern is a simple one-patch, pink squares, turned on the diagonal, alternating with white. The edges are finished with a double border of pink and white with a white binding. The backing is white. Candy-heart pink was a favorite color of mid-century quilters because of its cheerfulness. The period was a dark one, and most quilts of the era are bright and happy like this one. This quilt is from an estate collection compiled during the 1990's. It was found in the Chicago area. It is in fine vintage condition with no apparent issues. It has been used but was well cared for. The quilt measures 37" X 44."
