This Depression-Era quilt is both appliquéd and embroidered. All work, including the meticulous quilting, was done by hand. A series of potted flowers alternating with embroidered pinwheels make up the design. The pots and borders are blue; the buds are various solids, and the flowers are housedress prints from ca. 1930-1950. The stitches are tiny; the quilting measures 9-10 stitches per inch. The fabrics are 100% cotton; the quilt is washable in the washing machine and may be dried in the dryer. The quilt is clean, having been recently washed. It is slightly faded and has edge wear (shown in the photographs), but there are no holes or stains. This "English Flower Garden" quilt, photographed on a full-sized bed, measures 66" X 86."
