Estee Lauder Early Solid Perfume Compact - "Keepsake" - Unused. This little gem is as perfect as any I have ever seen from this time period. Goldtone case embossed with a lovely design on all sides. Blue enamel top with an oval picture of a man and a woman done in pastel colors. Picture is framed in goldtone metal and is bracketed by a laurel leaf wreath type of design. This is, according to all sources, a copy of an actual 18th century gold box.
I have actually seen the insert that came with these items originally. This is the description that was on it. "Like many of the famous gold boxes created in the eighteenth century, the Estee solid perfume keepsake has a history of its own. It is a copy of an actual gold toothpick case, given to Warren Hastings, the noted English statesman who served as the first Governor General of India. The box, beautifully enameled with miniature portraits of Mr. and Mrs. Hastings, was presented to the Governor General by a group of Indian Rajahs. In its day, such a box was considered a highly coveted keepsake. Now you may covet it even more since it safe-keeps for you a glistening pat of Estee Solid Perfume. The Estee Solid Perfume Keepsake - created for you by Estee Lauder."
Excellent preowned vintage condition. Extremely clean with no damage or wear whatsoever. Solid perfume glace is intact and unused and still smells very pleasant. Apparently was made with Estee perfume fragrance, and this name is stamped inside the lid. Approximately 2 1/2" x 1 1/4".
Please note: Our photos are taken with a high definition closeup lens. The pictures you see are the equivalent of looking at the piece through a strong magnifying glass and may show flaws that are not apparent to the naked eye. We do not deep clean vintage items and some items may have age appropriate patina or tarnish, especially in the deep recesses. Please examine all photographs as they are your best indicator as to appearance and condition.
