This old book was the fourth of a series; Firearm Design & Assembly. It is shown as being a Samworth Booklet on Firearms No. 4 and the original price was $5.25. It was written by Monty Kennedy who has a delightful way with words but a masterful way with checkering. The book focuses on the tools and techniques of stock customizing plus it has a multitude of full size patterns which can be easily copied and transferred. It has basic and simple designs to the more elaborate and detailed designs of animal and foliage. There are also techniques and patterns by artisans other than Kennedy. It was edited and published by Thomas G Samworth with a 1952 copyright.
It measures about 8 5/8” by 11 ¼” by ¾” with 251 pages. It is in fair condition with definite signs of use and wear. The inside pages are generally clean with light edge, corner and crease wear. Penciled on several design pages are prices. These were notations by the previous owner who used the book as a sales catalog of designs he would do at a specific fee. The hard cover is edge worn, soiled and no longer attached to the pages of the book. The spine, at one time, had been taped on but over the years even that has failed….luckily the stapled edge of the pages has held and no pages are missing.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
