At least three of these paper pamphlets are from the Wine Advisory Board and they are probably from the 1940’s – 1950’s
The first, California Wine Selector, is a single sheet which is accordion folded to feature many varietals of California wines like port, sauterne muscatel and champagne. It has suggestions on choosing and serving wine along with a few recipes. It measures about 4 ½” by 28 5/8” when fully opened.
The next, California Wine & Cheese Recipes is a three fold pamphlet with some simple recipes using both cheese and wine. It measures about 6 1/8” by 9 1/8”.
How to Have Better Dinners with Wine is a multi-paged booklet with some menu planning ideas and recipes using wine. The “Typical” menus start with Dry California Sherry “in the living room”! The back pages are a chart of wines and wine serving.
The last piece is Meats with Wine, a four-fold pamphlet. Even though there aren’t much more than a hand full of recipes there is variety including ones using, ham, lamb, north beach meatballs, frankfurters and liver. The back page is devoted to turkey including a recipe for Turkey ala Queen. It measures about 6 1/8” by 12 ¼” when fully opened.
All are in very nice vintage condition with minor edge and corner wear. Priced and sold as the group of four (4).
