This old hard cover, spiral bound cookbook is titled; Dundee Cook Book. I believe the first page with publication information and other specifics is missing but it appears this was a culmination of recipes from members of the Dundee Presbyterian Church in Omaha, Nebraska done in the 1950's. Drawings of the church as it was in 1901 and fifty years later in 1951 are the main clues for my dating. The preface to the recipes is a page with Prayers for Mealtime. It covers everything from appetizers to main dishes, breads, desserts, sauces and preserving. The first recipe is called “Toadstools” which has nothing to do with mushrooms and it includes a recipe for “Wacky Chocolate Cake” just for some fun. Most of the recipes give credit to the contributor. There are a few pages with advertising for products like Swan’s Down flour and Baker’s baking chocolate. There is also a section on basic things everyone in the kitchen should know like weights, measures and substitutions. It has about 200 pages including the index. It has hardcovers with a plastic spiral binding.
It measures about 6 3/8” including the plastic binding by 9 ¼” by 5/8” thick. It is in nice, but not great condition with signs of use. Most of the pages are crisp and clean but there are a few notations and a few torn pages. As previously mentioned the first page, possibly two are missing and the paper has been torn off part of the inside front cover where the inscription is. The cover has edge and corner wear and some faded discoloration.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
