Antique silverplate and glass claret jug decanter. Very well-made silverplate over copper (Sheffield Plate) mounts with a nice early blown glass decanter with a polished pontil. This particular claret jug dates from the late Georgian or early Victorian time period. Nice repousse decoration with an image of Bacchus on the finger lever-controlled lid. The is some loss to the silverplate finish to the base metal. Other than the plate loss it is in excellent antique condition the mounts are solid and there are no chips or cracks in the glass. It measures roughly eleven and one-half inches by six inches at the widest point.
