A Late 19th Century Antique Japanese Meiji Period Vase of ovoid form, with finial-dome lid decorated with bamboo and ume/plum trees, medallions of lotus flowers in a typical Imari palette of Iron Red and Cobalt Blue. The shouldered form robustly potted rising to a long than usual, narrow neck, with a detachable dome lid. Soft paste with crackle glaze and underglaze, celadon infused. This vessel is a unique, Japanese version of a Ming floor vase (decoration is a combination of Chinese and Japanese natural elements).
The base and the rim are “raw,” unglazed (which means the pottery is NOT a modern replica).
