My parents purchased this Antique Primitive Colonial American Metal Peel Bread Bakery Oven Fireplace Paddle Shovel 48" Long Stick in New England in the 1970's.
It's a beautiful sculptural object and still functions as a bread shovel.
It's in very good condition with wear and a patina consistent with its age. It dates to the mid-late 1800's.
It measures 47.5" tall by 7.25" wide (shovel part) by .75" deep (round top knob).
It's well made and sturdy and substantial.
