DESCRIPTION: From a Private Collection, this vintage porcelain “Cheval se Cabrant” translated “Horse Prancing” sculpture is outstanding. Originally created at Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg, this is a fantastic piece designed by August Gohring.
Handmade and hailed ‘white gold from Munich’, each Nymphenburg creation is described “a masterpiece of craftsmanship and artistry since the middle of the 18th century. The finest porcelain is crafted purely by hand in Nymphenburg.”
August Gohring joined Nymphenburg as a designer in 1930 and brought a high level of creativity and design excellence with him.
The handmade Blanc de Chine “Cheval se Cabrant” is a fantastic naturalistic creation. On an oval base, the horse is dynamic and of a commanding presence. Under a brilliant glaze, the physical details are exceptional; please view each photograph carefully to appreciate the level of accuracy. This piece is impressed with the rhombus shield and backstamp underneath, along with an impressed Gohring on the base.
WHY I LIKE IT: It is a realistic piece and the simplicity of white porcelain against a very detailed sculpture is captivating.
