A 19th c. black painted plaster bust of an African Moor, most likely the Venetian literary/historical figure, Othello. This life-size or larger, well sculpted male head is turned slightly to the right, with a handsome countenance and doleful expression. On a black conforming wooden base. Plaster, as well as terra cotta, due to their plasticity, were often used media in sculpture.

CONDITION: Excellent. No evidence of damage.
