For sale here is a wonderful vintage 1950s 60s original oil on board portrait painting titled "Portrait of Catherine" by southwestern American artist Tom D. Moore. The artist was a well-known portrait artist in his time, and his work was published in periodicals in the southwest at the time, and his work is in the collection of major southwestern museums in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. I was lucky enough to purchase a small collection of his artwork from an admiring collector of his work, and this painting is the among the first few that I am offering for sale from that collection. Still in the original gilt wood frame and fabric matting which shows a little wear but nothing that really detracts, and it's ready to hang on the wall right away. Measures 25-3/4" by 22-3/4" at outside of the frame, the image area measures 17-3/4" by 14-1/2". Signed at front as shown in my photos, "Moore". There is also an original label at back giving the name of the artist, the title of the artwork, and "Artists of the Southwest" which may have been an exhibition at the time. As noted above there is some slight wear to the edges of the gilt wood frame, otherwise really excellent vintage condition with no wear or damage to the painting itself as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase.
