Charles Haviland & Co H.P. Cabinet Plate w/Seascape Motif - 1 of 2 - image 1 of 7

Hand painted china is beautiful and unique as it portrays the artists emotions and visions for the subject he or she is creating. This is 1 of 2 hand painted cabinet plates, circa 1880, portraying beautiful seascape motifs, painted on matching Haviland china blanks, created in a small home studio environment by a very talented individual with great attention to detail and subject naturalism.

The motif is a colorful panorama of life in the ocean, which includes sea shells of various types along with other aquatic vegetation of the sea. The entire color pallet is utilized to create exciting life-like images from the ocean depths. The plate measures 8 1/2" across with delicate gold lattice work and scroll designs decorating the gently scalloped and embossed border of the plate. Initialed by the artist "G.E.M." The china blank is stamped "H & C Co over L over France", circa 1876-1889. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint.
