An antique Edwardian silk embroidery and needlework British royal coat of arms Armorial, ca. 1900-1916. The piece shows a crowned lion and unicorn holding a quartered shield with the 3 passant lions of England, the rampant lion of Scotland and harp of Ireland. Around the shield is the the caption Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense (shame on he who thinks evil of it) and above between the flags Dieu. Et. Mon Droit (God and my Right). Below the figures are placed the red Tudor rose, shamrock and thistle representing the England, Ireland and Scotland. On either side of the lion and unicorn are traditional forms of the Union Jack flag. The Armorial is executed on grey silk and sits in a gold wash oak frame with museum quality glass. The piece measures 20.5 inches tall and 22 inches wide in the frame. The armorial is in excellent condition with no fading, spotting, tears or other damage.
