This set of cast iron bookends features scottie dogs on a dark gold background. Each bookend has a two dimensional scottie on it. The dogs are painted white with red collars and black eyes. They are held in place with flathead screws through the back of the bookends. According to 'The Collector's Encyclopedia of Bookends' this pair is a Littco design from 1925. The backs the dogs are attached to are cast with some texture shaped into them instead of being perfectly flat. They have a dark gold patina. One of the ends is a bit darker than the other. There is also a little green discoloration in the bend where the bottom meets the back. This is an uncommon and attractive pair of nearly 100 year old bookends. They would be great for a scottie lover or cast iron collector.
