This cast iron flower basket has advertising for "Eureka Steel Range Co" on the back. It is coated in thick enamel, chocolate brown on the front and yellowish green on the back. My guess is the enamel is probably like that used on the companies stoves and its use on this piece is part of the advertising. The front surface has perhaps 3-5 tiny white spots that did not get covered in the brown enamel. These are hard to see, you to search to find them. There is enamel loss on the back which can be seen in the 13th photo. The base has a hole in it the point of which I am not sure of. The hole looks to be original since some of the enamel finish has run into it. This piece dates to between 1919-1941 and I believe it is likely the later part of that time period. Overall this interesting advertising piece is in good condition. It would be great for someone interested in vintage stoves and cookware or for a cast iron collector.
Company history:I found a parent company for Eureka Steel Range Co dating back to the late 1890’s. I did not find a definite date for when the company name changed. However I did find record of the company operating under this name in 1919. My research showed they were hit hard by the depression and liquidated in 1941.
