Betel Lime Box from South India or Sri Lanka ( Ceylon). Handmade in a two-part hinged and latched box with an attached mixing spoon on a chain. 18th-century metalwork in coppery bronze and ornamental brass foot and latch details. Fine and dense floral scrolling pattern evenly worked over the brassy metal. The size is 3.4" in diameter of the body, 4" latch to foot, and the chain is 10" long. Excellent condition. Lime residue to the interior and mixing spoon.
