Antique Glass Jam Jar with Sterling Overlay c.1900 (9.3oz.) - image 1 of 9

Antique Glass (Jam) Jar with Sterling Overlay c.1900 (9.3oz.) (H)4in. x (W)3in. This particular Piece is reminiscent of a bye gone era. An era where people didn't use disposables, and an era where manufactured goods were meant to be appreciated for not just their aesthetic appeal, but also for their durability & utility. We see these very attributes in this Antique Glass (Jam) Jar with Sterling Overlay. The Art Nouveau inspired features offer a level of taste & sophistication not commonly found on today's breakfast tables. The Antique Glass Jar is decorated with generous amounts of thick, heavy, Sterling Overlay; Overlay which not only decorates the Jar, but also reinforces the very structure of the Piece as well. The Glass is dense, heavy, and of good quality. The uses of the Jar could vary, but any kind of Fruit preserves, Jelly, Marmalade, or Jam, would have been the Jar's primary contents; a condiment Jar of sorts. What makes this Jar particularly special is that the matching Lid is designed for a Serving Spoon to naturally fit inside, with the Lid closed. The Antique Jar is in great shape; the only mark of age is on the inside of the Lid, where a slight chip to the glass can be felt. The Antique Glass Jar with Sterling Overlay is stored in a dry, secured, environment and will be a lovely addition to any collection of Sterling Overlay on Glass; or any formal breakfast setting.
