Antique Glass Tumbler with [.999] Sterling Overlay c.1900 (8.5oz) (H)6in. x (W)3.5in. A spectacular Piece that's worthy of both admiration & respect; one can't help but be impressed. Shop records indicate the Antique Tumbler is American in origin, and has an approximate date of production set at or near the year (1900). The Tumbler is comprised of both: thick, quality, (clear), Glass; as well as generous amounts of: thick, ornate, quality, fine, [.999], Sterling (Silver), Overlay. As noted, the [.999] Sterling is lavishly applied in such a manner that allows for one to truly appreciate the intricate patterns that so richly decorate the Antique. The Tumbler is styled in accordance to the Art Nouveau, artistic period; with hints of Victorian conservatism still present as well. As with many Art Nouveau inspired Antiques, the Tumbler evokes a strong floral theme that's vividly displayed via the Overlay. The contrast between (clear) Glass and the Sterling produces a radiant sparkle; thus illuminating the Overlay pattern, particularly when exposed to natural light. The Sterling Overlay not only decorates the Tumbler, but reinforces the structural integrity of the Antique Glass as well. Despite the Antique Tumbler being (120+) years of age, it's in terrific condition. There are no: chips, fractures, or cracks, to the Glass, and its clarity is rather impressive too. The [.999] Sterling Overlay flows in a continuous pattern, and is fully intact. The only true sign of age is a petite, (5mm) strip of wear to the Tumblers lip. The Fine Sterling (Silver) content is marked; along with a lovely monogram. Both lending some additional authenticity & originality to the Antique. The Antique Glass Tumbler with [.999] Sterling Overlay is stored in a: dry, secured, environment, and will without question be a highly coveted Antique for collection & display.
