A beautiful Ketchum and McDougall Sterling Silver thimble manufactured in New York City, circa 1900s. It has nine panels with chased medallions on the band. Inside at the apex is the company’s trademark with the word “Sterling”. On the band there is the size “11”.
There are light surface marks on the smooth panels which show when magnified in the pictures. The thimble is in good condition, not showing use, but there are about a half dozen small dents in the knurling area. I have reduced the price. It’s still a beauty.
There are similar thimbles shown in the book “American Silver Thimbles” by Gay Ann Rogers, page 71 (40).
A wonderful addition to a collection!
