For sale here is a HUGE pair of vintage 1940s handmade sterling silver Mexican modernist Sail Fish design cufflinks by Pedro Castillo of Taxco. A cut-out of a Sail Fish places over an irregularly shaped concave background - mid century modern and sporty! Castillo worked for Spratling in the 1930s, then Aguilar at Taller Borda around 1939, and opened his own shop in Taxco in the 1940s. He also designed jewelry for Rafael Melendez around the same time. This pair of cufflinks is from early in his career, and shows the vigor and ingenuity of an original creative artist! Each cufflinks measures 1-1/2" wide by 1" tall at fronts, and the pair weigh 0.5 ounce or roughly 14 grams total. Marked at backs as shown, conjoined "PC" for Pedro Castillo, also "Taxco Sterling Hecho en Mexico", pre-Eagle period. The swivelbacks are also marked "925" for sterling silver quality. Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and tarnish as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
