Pair of Antique B&G Copenhagen Hand Painted Neoclassical Medallion Portrait Urns
Rare pair of antique mid to late 19th century porcelain urns. Decorated with hand painted Neoclassical Greco-Roman portrait medallions in red, white, and gold with gold grapevine band. Has a beige / cream background. With gold gilt highlights to the handles, and gold gilding around the rim and base. The back of the urns have a cream and gold lyre framed by a gold grapevine band. Marked on the bottom B&G in underglaze blue. This mark was used by Bing & Grondahl in Copenhagen between 1853 and 1894.
These have some wear to the gilding and the urn with the lady's head has a tight crack extending off the rim on the back.
Each urn measures approximately 5 3/8 inches wide x 12 1/8 inches tall.
