Up for sale is a Antique Victorian Celluloid Photo Album Full of Antique Carte De Vista and Cabinet Card Photos.
The album features a celluloid cover with a gorgeous print of a woman by J. I. Austen & Co in Chicago circa 1901 along with gilt trim. The back cover of the album has a beautiful green velvet floral design. The album holds 20 7.5"x5.5" photos and 16 4.25"x2.5" photos. The album is currently full with 20 Cabinet Card photos and 16 Carte De Vista photos. All of the photos are from Reading, Pennsylvania. Many of the cabinet card photos date to 1880s-1890s, and most have elaborate gilt/print designs on the backs and beveled edges, Most of the CDV photos are early, dating to 1860s-1870s. Most of the photos were taken from either Saylor's New York Gallery or by J. D. Strunk.
There are a few small rips in the celluloid print, one at the bottom edge, and on the corners. There are a few discoloration spots on the print cover from age and exposure to humidity. The closure latch is missing, about 50% of the velvet on the back is worn off. 2 of the paper slots for cabinet card photos are ripped and 1 slot for CDV photos is ripped. The photos inside are in varied condition, Most are in good condition, a few have some wear. Overall the book and photos still display beautifully.
