Baule Wooden Strip Loom Reed Beater. Early 1900's primitive weaving tool from Cote d'Ivoire. Made of lightweight wood with leather strapping on both sides. The cloth made with this useful tool was a representation of history, ethics, oral literature, morals, philosophy and religious beliefs. The beater has a dark patina.
Condition: This item has a wear notch on the bottom edge along with a crack across the length on the same edge. The carry strap cord has numerous reties and has frayed in one spot. All condition items are shown in the last photograph.
