Dating to c.1890, I am thrilled to present this silver gilt, gem-encrusted cobra-motif bracelet for the consideration of my Ruby Lane holiday shopping clientele!

Measuring 3" long, this cuff-style bracelet will fit a wrist up to 8"! This near-Eastern jewel was likely made in India for a British lady living in India, as there are no hallmarks to the silver. This East-meets-West serpent jewel is so magnificent that I had to hold on to it for a while, but 'tis the season, so it is time to find this snake a new "curator!"

This cobra-motif jewel is wrought from sterling-grade silver which was fire-gilded with high-karat gold (unmarked but tested). The massive snake's head is the focal point, but the body is also exquisitely hand-made! The gems are the focal point here; there are 20 in all! Each gemstone is antique-cut and appear to be original to this jewel. The largest gemstone is the citrine set in the cobra's head; it measures 15mm x 10 mm and weighs a calculated seven carats.

Also set into the head are the following natural gemstones: ten rubies (two are river cabochons) with a total weight of approx. 1.3 carats, a rock crystal, two dark red garnets, an aquamarine, a blue topaz, a dark blue sapphire weighing approx. one carat, a lavender sapphire weighing approx. two carats, an amethyst, and a royal blue paste. All of the stones are claw-set, with the stones raised a couple of mm proud of the cobra's head. Between the gemstones, the lapidary has added silver gilt rope to give the cobra a serpentine pattern. JUST SMASHING!

The body of the bracelet is also covered in silver gilt "scales;" there is no detail left out of this impressive statement piece! The bracelet opens on one side to reveal a hidden tab. This bracelet will fit a wrist up to 8"; I have a very small wrist, and this jewel slides right up my forearm! It weighs in at a whopping 74.38 grams, but is comfortable to wear, as the weight is dispersed around the arm. As one can see in the last photo, this piece as completely wrought by hand, and the gilding is 100% intact after over 125 years!

Simply a red-carpet worthy serpent jewel, this snake is the only piece of jewelry you will need for those holiday parties! Please note the photos, which were taken in both indoor and outdoor lighting. This piece has not been cleaned; I leave the patina on all of my antique jewelry, as it is a testament to it's considerable age, and collectors prefer it. Here is a chance to snap up an investment-worthy bracelet which I guarantee to be one of a kind!

If you love the BEST in antique serpent-motif jewelry, this colorful cobra wants to coil around your arm, and make it's nest in your jewelry box! It would also make a thrilling holiday gift for any lady who loves historic statement pieces, and will be shipped in a gift box. Do not miss this ssssssuperb serpent; up to 90-day layaway is available, and USPS Priority mail shipping is FREE!
