Dating to c.1920, I am thrilled to present this magnificent natural baroque pearl and white gold filigree ring for the consideration of my Ruby Lane clientele!

Measuring a grand 15mm across the bezel, this superb, early 20th-century pearl ring truly has all of the "bells and whistles!" As most of my clients know, I rarely deal in 20th-century jewelry, but when I discovered this ring on my recent trip to New England, I knew I had to have it in my Ruby Lane shop!

This ring is completely hand-wrought, and was made to show off one impressive, natural baroque pearl! It is likely that the pearl pre-dates the setting, as the back shows an ancient drill hole; perhaps it began it's life as a wealthy gent's stickpin, but it is 100% intact, and the pearl and it's 14k white gold setting have made it into the 21st-century in as fine a condition as the most discerning collector could hope for!

The pearl itself measures 13.41 mm in diameter, and stands 5 mm proud of the setting. It is pure solid nacre, not cultured, and may be a rare example of a New England river pearl of unusually large size. The pearl boasts a white body color with opalescent undertones of pinkish-gold. This pearl was important enough to a previous owner to have a ring custom-made for it c.1920. The white gold setting is unmarked, but tests to 14k gold. The lapidary who made the mounting set the pearl with six extra-long applied and textured claws; two of the claws are incorporated into the design of the ring!

But wait; it gets even better! The shoulders of the ring are completely hand-cut and pierced in a filigree design which takes this ring to the next level! The leaf-and-scroll motif was hand-sawn rather than cast; one can see tool marks on the insider of the bezel, and the design carried to the top and bottom of the mounting! This would have required extra labor and skill on the part of the maker, and the result is ultra-feminine and a delight to behold!

This ring is a size 5 1/4, and appears to have never been resized. It could easily be sized up or down, but only by laser, due to the fact that organic gems such as pearls cannot withstand high heat. I just love the proportions of this ring; the pearl is just the right size to attract notice, but not to overwhelm. Best of all, it has made it through the past century in as fine a condition as the most discerning collector could hope for, without damage or repairs! The ring weighs in at 3.04 grams.

I love this ring so much that I was tempted to keep it for myself, but one can't keep it all and pay the bills, so let my loss be your gain! If you collect the BEST in natural antique pearl jewelry, this beauty belongs on your hand and in your collection! It would also make a splendid gift for any pearl-loving lady, and will be shipped in a gift box. Do not miss this one-of-a-kind jewel; I never expect to find another like it, up to 60-day layaway is available with 1/3 down, and USPS domestic shipping is FREE!
