Vintage Academy Awards Best Actor/Actress 1928-1961 Portraits By Nicholas Volpe - image 1 of 4

For a film buff, this folder of 70 movie star portraits is a treasure trove.

This complete collection in the original folder box includes all the portraits of the Best Actor / Actress winners from 1928 to 1961. The winners were illustrated by Nicholas Volpe who had the Hollywood contract to do the portraits for the Brown Derby in Beverly Hills.

The black and white portraits measure 8.25 by 10.5 inches. These are all in excellent unused condition, ready to frame and turn a dull wall into a Hollywood celebrity hangout.

There's some wear to the outside cardboard folio folder which has done a great job of protecting the portraits inside.

Some actors and actresses are represented in the set more than once because they were good enough to win more than one Oscar. Luise Rainer, Spencer Tracy, Bette Davis, Olivia De Havilland are a few. In each case, Volpe did a unique drawing for each Oscar portrayal. In addition to the best actor and actress of each year from 1928 to 1961, there was a tie in 1932 for best actor so there were 3 portraits for that year.
