Found this neat little Stoneware-Salt Glaze Jug in upstate NY around Cortland. It measures 10 inches tall and is 6 ¾ inches in diameter. Incised in blue is HART BRO’S., FULTON, N.Y. Other than the few imperfections that are a given with these early pieces of American pottery, the opening at the top is tilted (I like that) and there is a chip on the bottom rim edge (shows character), there is a hairline that encircles the lower handle. I’d like that not to be there, but it does not appear to affect the integrity of the handle. When tapped it sounds dull, not glassy, if that makes any sense. Please see photos. Aside from that, the jug is clean and in what I consider good age-related condition for the age, being 19th century. I like it. Sales tax must be collected for buyers living in or picking up in New York State. Local tax rate applies.
