A 19th century country French plate rack from Normandy. Made of solid dark stained chestnut, this "dressoir" was used to display and store plates. It has three shelves with a decorative carved gallery, each with a height of 14.5-15.5", tall enough to display large platters. The two small cabinets have charming hand carved flower baskets on the door panels and new iron knobs. Scalloped apron with a simple flower carved in the center. Very sturdy, with all pegged construction. The bottom plank has been replaced. Overall dimensions: 85" H x 51" W (53" W at crown) x 9.25" D (13.25" D at feet). The inside depth of the shelves is 8". Shown with a collection of 9" plates, sold separately.
