An antique French silver and vermeil perfume bottle or vial with original glass stopper. The edges of the panel cut bottle are decorated with gilt paint. The small perfume vial is a perfect size to tuck into an evening purse for dinner or a party.
The stopper is in very good condition with out nicks or chips. The silver and gilt top opens easily and closes with a firm snap. To note; the gilt painting does show wear with is in accordance with the age and use.
French, C 1860, the mark on this perfume bottle is difficult to read. After cleaning and numerous photographs, it looks to be the eagle mark ( used for items containing 18K gold). On the left side of the mark there appear to be feathers. Or it could be the Boar’s head mark.
