Logomachy, or War of the Words, is a game produced by McLoughlin Brothers in New York around 1874. There are 70 cards with 2 missing cards. Each card measures 3 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches. On each is a letter of the alphabet in large type, and a picture of a child in Victorian dress - beautiful chromolithograph illustrations! Children have played with the cards over the years. As a result some of the cards are dog-eared and have wear as shown in the photographs.
The game comes in the original maroon box with gold letters. The original instructions are shown so make sure you look at the photographs. The box is 6 ½ by 5 inches and 1 3/8 inches thick. This is a wonderful old Victorian parlor game. Enjoy!
