A gorgeous French renaissance style Limoges enamel bowl, circa 1870. Enamel on copper with a portrait in the center and a Latin inscription, " Victorinus Felt Rensis Summus". Loosely translates to victory at the highest price. The portrait could be Dante, a very popular subject for the decorative arts in the 19th century. The bowl is approx. 7" across by 1 1/2" high. It is in very good to excellent condition, with some possible minor chipping on the underside of the rim. See photo close-up. Guaranteed to be as described.
