We have been lucky to acquire a collection of early 19th century children's toy pottery, this is one of the items, each sold individually.
This fine little mug was produced in Regency England, circa 1820 for a small infant. It is quite unbelievable that this miniature toy mug has survived over 200 years! Just think of all the sights it has seen during the past two centuries, let alone all of the little hands that have held it?
The mug is of dinky proportions yet features the most decorative silver luster pattern. Silver lustre was the most expensive type of lustre glaze, by candlelight it glows. This is such a tactile little mug, very satisfying to the touch. This is a fine piece for a collector. Please see our other little mug from the same period, listed separately, they make a great addition to your folk art or primitive home.
Please excuse all of the reflections off the highly reflective silver luster.
Measuring: Width including handle 2 5/8 inch (6.5 cm) by height 2 1/8 inch (5.5 cm).
Condition: Tiny surface/manufacturing graze to rim, mentioned for accuracy.
