An absolutely delightful antique scent bottle from the Aesthetic period of Victorian England. This was a period when naturalistic inspired designs were in fashion. This teeny scent bottle has many design elements of this brief, the birds egg shape and the most exceptional hand painted fuchsia buds with gilt detailing. The fuchsia plant being discovered in the 16th century by the German botanist Leonhart Fuchs. The symbolism of this happy and enchanting flower is to be trusting and give confiding love and confidence.
Having the original screw top lid with cork liner, the lid with full hallmarks for maker GW Birmingham (anchor), Lion Passant, letter Gothic P for the year 1889.
