Here's a wonderful large metal from the 1884 World's Industrial and Cotton Centennial Exposition in New Orleans. It was celebrating the city's revitalization after the Reconstruction era, and the first shipment of cotton from the United States to England.
The medal is just under 3" in diameter (2 7/8") and 5 / 16" wide. It was minted by L.P. Krider in Philadelphia.
The condition is very good - only very slight scratches and very slight dents at the edges as is appropriate for its age. The patina is a rich dark brown.
It weighs 8 ounces. It's a very beautifully detailed medal with great historic significance.
