Here's a pretty and rather unusual coronation mug for Queen Elizabeth ll from 1953. Of course, she just celebrated her 70th jubilee, and it's fun to look back at her history. The mug is dated for her coronation on June 2, 1953. There's a lovely relief of the Queen as she looked when she became Queen at 21 years of age. There's also a laurel wreath around her portrait. On the back of the mug it reads "Coronation" on top and has her initials as "E ll R" for Elizabeth ll Regina. The symbols of the 4 countries of the UK are depicted as well. On the bottom is the maker KSP and England.
The mug is glazed pottery and in very good condition, with no chips or cracks. It measures 3" high and 4" across including the handle. It's a nice subtle color - a very light creamy tan shade.
A perfect mug to drink a little tea in honor of the wonderful Queen Elizabeth. And today we lost her, so very sad.
