This is a large 1 & 3/8" enamel on copper button from the 18th century Georgian period. Ivory enamel pierreries in gold foil cups border the button, strung together like pearls on white thread. The hexagonal flora-foliate center of gold paillons is enhanced with jewel-like ombrant enamel and the tiniest faux pearls. Best of all is the rare octagonal shape of this button! It is counter-enameled and in excellent condition.
