In on June 15, 1752, Benjamin Franklin proved that lightning is electricity and invented the lightning rod. This contemporaneous large 18th c. Bilston (for lack of better info) hand painted enamel button depicts a night scene at a rural estate with lightning cutting the aubergine sky. I bought a set of 6 buttons to get this button--the set came from a reknown collector in England. It measures 1 & 1/2" on copper and is in excellent condition. I suspect it may be unique.
