This is a 1 & 1/4" large pearl button from the 18th century Georgian period. A shimmery pearl wafer is carved and pierced (ajoure) and rests in a white pearl bed with a knurled edge. The inner pearl rotates on a silver pin-shank--very well-made. The center is embellished with a dark blue paste cabochon with light wear, but still pretty. This button is in very fine condition.
