This is a stunning mid-18th century portrait of an African wearing a bright red head wrap and blue and white striped garment--possibly a Ghanaian--in a colorful gold-bordered reserve on black under glass. The rim looks like gold-plated copper. The back is steel. Both back and front are in excellent condition. It measures 1 & 1/2" and is (in my opinion) exceptional.
